About the job
We are looking for a Senior Broker to support and expand the Carbon desk at OLYX.
In this role, you will originate and facilitate transactions across the global carbon market, with a strong focus on the emerging compliance carbon credit markets.
The role requires strong commercial instincts and a deep understanding of the rapidly evolving Paris Agreement Art. 6 and regional compliance carbon landscape, identifying arbitrage opportunities across different supply- and demand-side frameworks, negotiating transactions, and ensuring compliance with sustainability and regulatory frameworks.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deal Origination & Brokerage: Source, structure, and intermediate spot and long-term carbon credit transactions across the globe. Identify and execute cross-border and cross-product arbitrage opportunities.
Drive market liquidity and ensure efficient execution while maintaining high ethical and professional standards
- Market Analysis & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor pricing dynamics across different regional compliance markets
Build in-depth knowledge of global and regional regulatory frameworks, including:
- Paris Agreement Art. 6.2/6.4
- CORSIA
- Singapore Carbon Tax and other regional compliance markets
- Voluntary Carbon Market
Track developments in decarbonization policies impacting supply and demand. Translate regulatory and market changes into actionable trading insights for clients.
- Client Engagement: Establish and nurture strong relationships with carbon producers, project developers, traders, and end users. Act as a trusted advisor by linking commercial opportunities to decarbonization strategies and compliance needs
About you
- Fluency in English is a must; additionally, fluency in Spanish or German is preferred; other languages are welcome
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
- 3 – 5 years of experience in carbon markets, trading or brokerage experiences are preferred
- Strong understanding of the carbon credit market
- Commercially driven with a deal-maker mindset
- Self-starter: proactive, resilient, stress-tolerance, and entrepreneurial
- Able to navigate complex and evolving regulatory environments
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
